Some of you may know that I am in the process of writing my first motivational book. I decided I was going to share bits and pieces of my book on my blog, starting with the Prologue.
I hope you enjoy.
You don’t like something in life, change it.
Sounds simple right? Yeah, no not so much.
Let me start off with an introduction, I’m Nathalie M. Barreto. Hi! I’m 24 and on the verge of becoming the next spinster of this decade. Have you ever heard of the expression “bad luck comes in three’s?” You have no idea how God-offly true that statement is.
My bad three’s: love, friends/family, money and education/career.
Just life in general, come to think of it.
Wait, did I say bad things come in three’s? Sorry. In my case it’s obviously more. Like they say, "when it rains, it pours.”
For a few days now I’ve had this urge to do something with my life, like to really do something... but I feel stagnant. I’m currently in the smallest town I’ve been in. A town where its okay to dress in heels and wear a Sunday dress to a football game and drink mint juleps out of sterling cups on the regular. No clue yet? Let me simplify it, I’m in the land of Hell Yea, Damn Right... good Ole Oxford, Mississippi, a soul sucking, gut wrenching town. Or at least it has recently became this way for me, simply because I let it.
Yes, I take full responsibility and accountability.
I’ve been thinking for a while now that I want to do something to empower people to bring people out of funks (like the one I’m currently in). But it was brought to my attention, from someone I know, that you can’t write a motivational book being unmotivated.
Well, how about this, you must find yourself in the same place I am if you’re reading this, obviously, so why don’t we help each other and by the end we should feel some form of upliftment.
I’m also pretty sure we can get rid of the “funk” we’re in together rather than alone.
